Week 9: October 20-23, 2026
This Week's Proclamation:
God promises to send us a Savior. God keeps His promises.
We will begin our week by continuing to learn about the virtue of Responsibility (part of Justice).
In KM, on Tuesday, we will continue to hear how God prepared the world for the promised Savior. God called Abraham to follow Him. Abraham believed God and had a loving relationship with God, even when God asked him to do hard things. Because Abraham loved God and had faith in Go, God promised Abraham that he would be the father of a great nation. God keeps His promises. (KW did this lesson last week.)
The rest of the week, both classes will hear the story of Moses. First, we'll hear how God's people were in trouble in the land of Egypt, and how God heard their prayers and sent Moses to take them home. God did signs and wonders to convince Pharoah to let God's people go. God also commanded His people to celebrate an important feast called Passover. Because the people obeyed God, He helped them leave Egypt. He parted the Red Sea - He answers our prayers!
Then, we will hear about how God gave us the Ten Commandments through Moses to teach His people the best way to love Him and each other. Following the Ten Commandments helps us be holy and happy, and avoid things that will hurt us or make us sad. When we break the Ten Commandments, that is called a "sin", and sin hurts our relationship with God and with each other. The Ten Commandments help us to live as God created us to be: in loving relationship with Him and each other.
Book Recommendation! We are reading these Old Testament stories from The Story of All Stories: A Story Bible for Young Catholics by Emily Stimpson Chapman, published by Word on Fire. If you're looking for a Christmas gift, I highly recommend this! Available from Word on Fire or Amazon. You can also listen to some of the stories on Hallow, read by Jonathan Roumie.
Virtue of the Week:
*We'll learn about this virtue this week and next week.
Responsibility: fulfilling one's just duties; accepting the consequences of one's words and actions, intentional and unintentional
Looks like: Complete your tasks
Sounds like: "I have finished my homework."
*A daughter virtue of the Cardinal Virtue: Justice
Homework + Projects:
Your Religion Homework is to spend time with God, your Friend and Father (and the best Teacher!) every week. Keep track of how you spent time with God on your Prayer Log.
*October Prayer Logs are due on Monday, November 2. They will be graded for completion, not for what or how much is prayed. Logs turned in late will lose 1 point for every day it is late.
**The Hallow Bingo Card is a bonus activity (aka optional). Students who return their bingo card on November 2 will receive and All Saint's Day surprise. (Late bingo cards will not be eligible for the surprise.)
Remember: Our goal is to all make the Sign of the Cross properly by Christmas!
Days we meet:
KW = Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
KM = Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday
Year at a Glance:

Creation and The Fall: God created the world out of love and it is good! We are made in God's image and likeness. God promises to send us a Savior.
God Keeps His Promises: God saved Noah from sin and the Flood. Abraham had great faith and obeyed God. God gave us the 10 Commandments - they teach us to be holy and to live a happy life. God protected David and made him a king.
Prayer: God created me for a special friendship with Him. Prayer is talking to and listening to God as our Father and friend.
Saints: God has a plan for us to live with Him forever in heaven.
