Toilet Training Tidbits
The following information outlines the expectations of our Pre-K students, the SMCS Mighty, Tiny Crusaders, with regard to toilet training readiness at the beginning of the school year in August.
SMCS Mighty, Tiny Crusaders:
- Don’t wear pull-ups, not even during nap time.
- Push down and pull up shorts/lower garments and underpants.
- Are fully capable of wiping #1 and #2 until clean. Teachers will verbally coach through the process if a Tiny Crusader needs help.
- Who have two, or more accidents in a week (during nap time for two consecutive weeks) might not be ready for our school.
- Indicate (verbally/sign language) to teachers that they need to use the toilet.
- A Tiny Crusader who is playing and sitting/standing in their own waste two, or more, times a week might not be ready for school.
- Can wait patiently for their turn to use the toilet. Sometimes this takes a few minutes while other Tiny Crusaders have a turn.
- Can change their own clothes in the event of a potty accident.
