Social and emotional learning is a cornerstone in preschool. As students develop they will begin to learn about self-awareness, self-control, problem-solving peacefully, autonomy, and social competence. Daily praise and encouragement are given for expectations that are met! St. Martha believes that students who feel comfortable and have a positive relationship with their teachers and school will achieve their goals. Visits to the treasure box, praise, tickets, etc… will be given when students are making good choices. If a student is having difficulty with behavior, the teacher will reach out to the parent through an email or a conference. We are a team and will work together to help your child be successful in the school setting. Our school rules are as follows:
Be respectful...Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Talk at appropriate times using appropriate language. Students should be listening when the adult is speaking.
Be responsible...clean up after yourself, clean up your area, and help others. Follow safety instructions in and out of the classroom
Be trustworthy...take ownership of your actions.
Follow directions...Listen and do what is asked by adults.
Give me five...stop, look and listen! All talking and work stops. The student gives attention to the adult.
*****Whole class success will also be encouraged. When the students are working together and following the rules a smiley face will be placed on the board and when 10 are earned the teacher will reward the class: extra center time, extra recess, ice cream, etc.
