When do you celebrate your class Saint's Feast Day when it falls on a weekend? 3G enjoyed the best of both worlds and enjoyed a prolonged celebration either side of the St. George's Day weekend!
Friday began with a Saint George themed scavenger hunt. The children raced around to find clues in their house teams, with Walsingham gaining extra points for finding all of the clues first. They then had the challenge of deciding which of the clues were actually true (despite some tricky red herrings!), with Iona coming out as victors overall.
The rest of the day was much calmer, with the children celebrating Saint George, the patron Saint of England, and our wonderfully multi-cultural country, by hearing about the heritage and customs of some of the children in 3G who have family in other countries around the world. We saw some incredible items, amongst them books, clothing, money, bus tickets and sculptures! The day was finished with the children using watercolours to create a picture that reminded them of England or Saint George.
The celebrations continued last Monday, when we were lucky to be joined by a parent who is a Farm Vet (with some very special guests), in recognition of Saint George's patronage of farmers. We learnt a lot about the ordeals that farmers (and vets!) have to go through, especially during lambing season!
A huge thank you to all the parents in 3G, and especially to our visitor, Mrs Gercke, who made the celebration such a success.
