History of Squash since 1974
The Squash Courts were opened in 1974 and the following year Squash was accepted as a full summer sport. Squash was so popular that 120 boys played in first series of interhouse competitions.
The first squash Colours were awarded In 1975.
Two years later D Williams was chosen to play for Transvaal schools and GB Pohl in 1978. Another court was added in 1979.
In 1980 David Jacques was selected for the Transvaal A-team and nine U15 boys were awarded provincial colours.
In 1981 Roger Koep made the SA Schools U19 squash team as well as captaining the U16 SA side. In the same year between the ten Saints teams we won 116 out of 128 matches played.
In 1983 A Sotie represented SA and in 1984 Michael Koep was chosen for the SA Schools U19 A-team.
By 1985 squash had become so popular that it was necessary to hire the Bryanston Courts two days per week in order for all boys to play and practise.
In 1985 Bryan Leach was selected for SA Schools U16 team and 4 boys were selected for Transvaal in various age groups.
In 1986 Honours in Squash were awarded to MS Barker and BT Leach.
In 1989 Saints won the David Quail trophy for the best school in the Transvaal, Robert Lewis was selected for SA schools tour to Europe and the original courts were refurbished.
In 1994 four of the five Transvaal U19A players were Saints boys: Roy Michael (Captain), David Schonbom, Roy McFadzean and Gareth Barcza while John Argyle played number 1 in the SA U14 side.
In the late 1990s all three Barcza brothers played for SA Schools.
