"Einstein’s Definition of Education: "is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school."
This refers to the experiences, values, lessons learned and education outside the classroom - This is where sport has a critical role to play.
Welcome to Coaches Corner
Given that teachers play such an important role in the St Stithians Sports pillar and indeed the South African School's sporting system successes, we have decided to create an enabling platform for the many outstanding teachers who coach at our School.
The brilliant, minded Eddie Jones recently quoted the following, “the problem with coaching now is that players are being taught by ex-players and not teachers.”
Teachers by their very nature understand that to bring out the best in each boy, requires a personal connection, a genuine feeling of care, and a deep level of trust between student and teacher.
As Tony Dungy, a man of faith and the first African - American coach to win the Super Bowl has written: " But winning the Super Bowl is not the ultimate victory. And once again, just to make sure we are on the same page, it's not even about football. It about the journey - mine and yours- and the lives we can teach, the legacy we can leave, and the world we can change for the better.
The intention is to guide, empower and enable our Saints coaches to grow on their collective journey with each student-athlete as we strive to bring out the best in each Saints boy, through meaningful mentoring and coaching both on and off the field.
