Hello,
My Name is Mr. Childers, I am the Librarian and STEM Elective teacher at St. Ignatius Catholic School. In Middle school I teach Vex IQ Robotics and STEM Lab.
I graduated from Western Governors University in Elementary Education (k-8). I also hold a Master's degree in Marketing.
I love all things technology and I am constantly trying new tech to see what can add value and save time in my daily life.
I believe that science and learning should be fun and engaging. I want my students to look forward to STEM activities and be proud of their individual accomplishments. I want my students to think like engineers, always ask questions, look to improve, and redesign.
My classes are designed around the Engineering Design process. This process is not linear and allows students the ability to make changes, decisions, or think outside the box to solve a challenging task.
I believe in a student centered approach to learning. Acting as guide for students to inspire their own creations or solve unique problems. I teach students that failure is an option, as we learn more from our failures than we do from our successes. As Miss Frizzle always says, "Take Chances, Make Mistakes, Get Messy."
By the end of the year, I want my students to have obtained knowledge through the use of technology, that will follow and inspire them throughout their entire life.
