I came to Gabe's in 2008 before you were even born! I teach ELA (Writing and Literature) and have for that entire time at Gabe's. I have 2 kids, a Sophomore girl at Notre Dame, Chase (a Gabes 2024 Grad!), and a 3rd grader named Gus. I also have four cats, Boo, Duck, Binx, and Oreo, who make as many messes as the kids do. I love sports, and on Football Saturdays, you would find me happily cheering on the MU Tigers at Farout Field or around Columbia, MO. My family also enjoys the STL sports scene and enjoys the Cardinals and Blues as well.
Before you start asking the question, "Where'd you go to high school?" I am not from this area. I am from a small town named Fulton, MO, which is about 30 minutes from Columbia. This is why my favorite team is MU--I was born and raised there. Since you're likely still thinking it--I went to Fulton High School (which is a public school in my hometown). Growing up in K-8, I attended Columbia Catholic School, which is a lot like St. Gabriel.
I have my Bachelor's Degree from Westminster College and my Master's Degree from University of Missouri-Columbia. I am certified in Missouri grades 5-12 ELA.
Hi! I am Mrs. Denton, and I am very excited to be your math and science teacher. This may be my first year at St. Gabe's, but will be my 13th year of teaching - lucky number 13! I earned my undergraduate degree from Rockhurst University (go Hawks!) and both my Master and Educational Specialist degrees from Lindenwood University. I believe in meeting every student where they are and empowering them to recognize their own potential. My goal is to inspire confidence, nurture growth, and help each learner develop both academically and as a person.
My husband and I will be married for 15 years this October, and we have 4 children who all attend St. Francis of Assisi School: Lucas (a 6th grader like you!), Zachary (5th grade), Lexi (2nd grade), and Elliot (Preschool). I also have 3 dogs (a dachshund named Obi Wan Bologna, a Newfoundland mix named Princess Leia, and a goldendoodle named Stevie the Eevee) and 3 cats (Sammy, Shadow, and S'more).
I grew up in St. Louis and attended Catholic grade school (St. Andrew), Bishop DuBourg HS, and then went on to the Jesuit university: Rockhurst for my undergrad.
I love to travel and try to do so as often as possible. I'm a part-time travel agent because I love planning and organizing trips so much, I thought it'd be a great thing to do in addition to teaching. Because of this, I've had the opportunity to travel to many wonderful places including The Vatican City, Amalfi Coast, Turks & Caicos, and my happy place: Disney World.
I look forward to getting to know all of you and your families this year! We're going to have a great time learning and growing together.
Hello, everybody! My name is Ms. Brennecke. I am super excited to be your teacher this year. I recently graduated from SLU. This is my 5th year at St. Gabriel! My favorite part of social studies is learning about the lives of people who shaped our history. I can’t wait to share my favorite subjects with you this school year!
On the weekends, I love to go to the zoo to see all the animals. My favorite restaurant in St. Louis is Stacked for a great burger. Can’t wait to see all of you in class!
