One of the cornerstones of my teaching philosophy is the power of active participation. Encouraging students to actively engage in class not only fosters a supportive learning environment, but also paves the way for their success in future endeavors. In my classes, I prioritize immersing students in the Spanish language, believing that true fluency is best achieved through constant exposure. The young minds of Kindergarten students possess an incredible ability to absorb language nuances, leading to a more polished accent and strong communication skills as they progress.
To ensure optimal learning experiences, I also advocate for supplemental learning at home (specifically for my Spanish I students.) By reinforcing what we cover in class, students can fully participate and enjoy our engaging review games. My curriculum aligns with the ACTFL standards, placing speaking, listening, reading comprehension, and writing, all in the target language at its core. Additionally, I integrate cultural teachings into my curriculum, as I firmly believe in the holistic approach to language acquisition that it provides.
