Trademarks (or service marks)
We might need a trademark based on the name of the company and the logo we use. Names of teams and logos of teams are all already trademarked.
The closest trademark analog for the trademark we would file is the Fitbit trademark serial number: 88655636
Copyrights (or licenses)
We would not need a copyright because currently, sensors have not yet been implemented in soccer.
There are no copyrights related to our solution.
Patents (or standards)
We would need a patent for the specific technology we use so that other products just like it aren't able to steal our ideas. A patent on the system which analyses the data as well as a patent on the system that collects it would be required.
"Currently, the use of impact sensation in devices is typically limited by economic and logistic constraints. Typical impact sensory mechanisms include an array of sensors, such as the individual keys of a keyboard. Sensors which receive an impact force output a signal. The location of the sensor(s) thus indicates the location of impact. Thus, for a large impact surface, a very large array of sensors may be required to accurately sense location of the impact. Such arrays may be overly costly for many applications."
"Preferably, any body mounted sensors and/or receivers will be lightweight, durable, and positioned so as to have little or no impact on the player's performance or play and so as to have little or no possibility of injuring the player or others."
"Sports equipment includes an embedded optical sensor. The embedded optical sensor includes an image array and navigation engine. The navigation engine receives image information originating from the image array and performs a correlation on the image information to calculate overlap of images and to determine shift between images in order to detect motion of the sports equipment."
