Hello, and welcome to 6th-Grade Band!
In 6th-Grade Band, students typically continue to play flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, or baritone. Interested students may make a transition in the summer after 5th grade to another instrument with the permission of the director. As in 5th-Grade Band, the full group rehearses every other day for about 45 minutes. The 6th-Grade Band performs at three concerts during the school year.
6th-Grade Band refines the skills developed in 5th-Grade Band and introduces students to a wider range on each instrument and more varied rhythmic patterns. Ensemble skills like following the conductor, playing in balance, and independence of parts will be further developed. Students continue improvising using rhythm and small pitch sets.
