Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble performs high-quality literature at three concerts at SCPA as well as a performance at the MSHSL Contest. Entrance to Wind Ensemble is determined by audition in the spring. Students from this group also perform solos and ensembles at contest. Wind Ensemble rehearses daily for about 45 minutes and includes weekly sectionals.
Solo and Ensemble
SCPA hosts a Solo and Ensemble festival each January. All students participate by performing as part of a chamber group (usually 3–6 students) and have the option of preparing a solo (usually with piano accompaniment).
Each solo and ensemble performs for a judge and receives a critique. This ensemble performance is a portion of the first semester exam.
Parents (and other guests) are welcome to attend Solo and Ensemble. Students do not need to be present for the whole event (just their own performance(s)), but they often support one another by listening to each other's events.
