Art - Drawing - Power prints
This term, the children will learn and develop their skills in: design, drawing, craft, painting and art appreciation.
We will create 3D drawings using proportion, tones and mix media. They will learn shading techniques and develop print skills.
DT - Adapting a recipe
Children will work in groups to adapt an existing biscuit recipe, whilst taking into account the cost of the ingredients and other expenses against a set budget.
Collaborative Learning
In this series of lessons, the children will learn to work collaboratively in a responsible way. They will use tools including Google Docs and Sheets to select, use and combine a variety of software to design and create a range of programs, systems and content.
They will explore the opportunities offered by the World Wide Web for communication and collaboration.
Computational Thinking
During this topic, the children will develop their understanding of the four pillars of computational thinking and learn to identify them in different contexts. They will work on designing, writing and debugging programs that accomplish specific goals and explore abstraction and pattern recognition.
Google Legends
We use the Google Legends program to explore internet safety.

Rivers
In this topic, the children will learn the features of a river and how erosion and deposition occur in a river. They will name and locate the main rivers on the world map, and discuss why rivers are important for us. We will also be describing and labelling the water cycle.
We will be exploring a local river on a trip to Morden Hall Park in October.
The Romans
In these lessons, we will learn about the history and structure of ancient Rome and the Roman Empire. This will include a detailed exploration of the Romanisation of Britain. We will be developing an enquiry into what the Roman Empire was like and what impact it had on Britain.
Autumn 1
Outdoor Adventurous Activity
Read and follow different maps and symbol trails. Take part in a range of trust and communication activities and adventure games.
Dance
Create characters and narrative through movement and gesture, use movement to explore and communicate ideas and feelings.
Basketball
Learn simple attacking tactics using a range of equipment and skills.
Autumn 2
Gym
Create sequences that include changes of level and speed.
Tag Rugby
Demonstrate the four core skills of tag rugby (running, catching, passing and tackling) and apply to a match scenario.
Hockey
Send and receive a ball with increased control to keep possession. Use hand-eye coordination to strike a moving and a stationary ball.
Living things
The children will learn more about living things and recognise they can be grouped in a variety of ways.
They will be experts in use of classification keys to help group, identify and name variety of living things - in their local and wider environment. They will learn how to collect data and how to make observational drawings.
They will describe how environment can change and how this can sometimes pose a danger to living things.
States of matter
In this topic, we will compare and group materials together, according to whether they are solids, liquids or gases. We will observe that some materials change state when they are heated or cooled. We will measure or research the temperature at which this happens in degrees Celsius (°C).
They are taught about precautions for working safely with electricity.
