“Where does ‘yours’ end?” asks the poet of the phrase “Best wishes to you & yours” in her poem “During a War.” Similarly, this collection is offered in two parts: the first half is told more from the poet’s point of view, and the second half addresses concerns of “others” in a way that questions the idea of foreignness. Nye, winner of a lifetime achievement award by the Academy of American Poets, “has borne witness to the complexities of cultural difference that connect us as human beings, evidencing a firm commitment to the poet as bearer of light and hope.”
