Ranging from the 1950s to the 1990s, this novel explores themes of identity, family, and the complexities of race through the lives of identical twin sisters from a small, southern Black community. One raises her daughter in the hometown she once tried to escape, while the other passes for white, with a white husband and child who don’t know of her past. What will happen when their daughters finally meet?
