The Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (OAHP) houses cultural resource documentation including survey reports, site forms, Level II documentation, HABS/HAER reports, National and State Register nominations, as well as other types of related documentation.
Please note: As of July 1, 2024, all service requests must be submitted via the online Data Access Request Form (DARF). Previous PDF and hard copy versions of request forms, as well as requests made via phone, fax, or email will not be accepted. Please direct questions to hc_filesearch@state.co.us.
Documentation housed at OAHP is the result of state and federal recording activities, as well as Certified Local Government preservation activities, State Historic Fund grant project deliverables, and avocational research efforts.
Most of our records are available to use for research. However, documentation of sensitive resources is available only to qualified researchers. All requests for documentation will include a review of our backlog. Documentation of professionally bound materials, as well as oversized and fragile materials, may not be available for digital reproduction. These items may be viewed in-house by appointment only.
Reproductions of materials in the OAHP records archive are available for purchase. Reproduced records are digitized by scanning and are transmitted to requestors via email as PDF files. Files are named using the record ID (e.g., 5DV_123.pdf). If additional documentation has been pulled from the backlog, those materials will be denoted with the deliverable file naming convention “_backlog”. Please note that materials from the backlog have not been entered into the OAHP relational database or geodatabase and may not have been checked for locational accuracy.
Deliverables include site forms, reports, and other requested documents in their entirety. Requests for partial document copies will not be accepted.
A PDF invoice will be sent to the requestor along with the deliverables of the request. It is the requestor's responsibility to forward the invoice to the responsible billing party and ensure timely payment is made. Please visit our billing policies page for more details and to review the current price list.
Reproduction request deliverables will be sent within 7-10 business days after receipt of a submitted request.
