IDEA FEST 2018: A Journey to discover innovation from Colleges
Kerala Startup Mission organised the first Idea Fest, an idea competition for college students during the month of April 2018. Aimed at promoting the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth of the state, this event, organised by KSUM, focused exclusively on innovative projects coming out of various colleges in Kerala.
Through our Idea Fest 2018 Journey
Initially we had received around 2000 applications in the interest form stage and a count of 841 applications in the second stage after initial shortlisting. Further shortlisting was done in multiple stages. The initial screening was done by the KSUM Experts and the next level of screening was done in 9 different venues dividing the state into 9 zones.
We have shortlisted 243 students to the finals and the selection was done through a final pitch day organised on various institutions across Kerala. We had conducted the shortlisting process at 4 different venues and in the finals shortlisted innovators got an opportunity to present their ideas to a panel of experts.
Innovators or students recommended by the selection panels were provided with innovation grant after collecting their fund breakup or plan and depending on the stage of their idea or product. And, also mentorship and lab support for developing their ideas into ventures were also given.

After the final evaluation 70 students got various supports for building their project.
44 students got Funding support, 5 students got various IT services support, 8 got mentorship support and 16 got Fab and Future lab support.
We have successfully completed our IDEA FEST 2018 Journey and keep waiting for the Idea Fest 2019 !!!
