On the day that students have TFL they should dress comfortably in “flexible” clothing. They need to be prepared to move and be active. They also need to be prepared to go outside even on the chilly days; check the weather, Remind or the Google Classroom in the morning. This includes a winter hat, gloves, and jacket. I WILL NOT take students outside on a chilly day if they are not wearing coats or are wearing shorts; layers are a good plan. NO JEWELRY, but FitBits are okay. Valuables should be left back in the classroom.

It is the philosophy in the TFL that every child can be an athlete and that athletes move their bodies in a large variety of ways. The world is full of a wide variety of fitness activities.
The goal of the TFL is to teach, expose, and encourage the students of RIS about the advantages of leading a healthy and active lifestyle.
Hopefully, this introduction in the TFL will translate into healthy habits that will last a lifetime and lead to a population of happy, healthy, and active adults.
Finally, numerous studies find that students who engage in regular physical activity and who are fit are able to concentrate more and perform better in school.
The students will have three points of contact with the Fitness Lab. There will be an in-person Fitness Lab, virtual fitness lab on Wednesday afternoons, and finally the Fitmoji classroom for students to workout independently at home. Stay tuned for more information.
