Forensic Science is a year-long course that prepares students to become knowledgeable in utilizing scientific analysis for crime scene investigation. Students will apply this knowledge to design and then investigate a mock crime scene. The curriculum for this class will integrate the scientific principles of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. There is a strong emphasis on lab work. The forensic protocol and lab work that will be covered throughout the course include toxicology (poisons and drugs), serology (blood and body fluids), odontology (teeth), DNA fingerprinting, hair and fiber analysis, fingerprinting, and document analysis.

AP Biology is designed for students who have a strong interest in science. AP Biology covers topics typically found in freshman Biology courses at the university level. Students accepting the challenge of an Advanced Placement course will be required to actively participate in all class and laboratory activities conducted during the year.
Course content: Biology is a study of life. SHS AP Biology follows the redesigned 2019-2020 Ap Biology Curriculum: Chemistry of Life; Cell Structure and Function; Cellular Energetics; Cell Communication and Cell Cycle; Heredity; Gene Expression and Regulation; Natural Selection, and Ecology.
