Avery King is a senior at Casa Grande High School in Petaluma, California. She developed an interest in discovering more about neurodiversity because of her childhood and her experiences growing up with her older brother–who is on the autistic spectrum. She joined the Stanford Neurodiversity Project’s summer advocacy and education camp after her junior year of high school and, alongside a team of other high school students, created a neurodiversity advocacy and accommodations web page called My Neuro-Corner. Furthermore, she hopes to implement the website in the future in order to develop an understanding in her family, community, and social surroundings regarding neurodiverse individuals; when she is not taking an initiative or working hard in school, however, Avery enjoys playing varsity basketball and frequently hanging out with her friends.
