Each class has their own Chris the Cat and we send him home to one child in each class, each Thursday. He then enjoys family adventures with that child over the weekend and is brought back to School on a Sunday, where the child will be given time to recount their adventures to the rest of the class.
This gives our Infant children fantastic speaking and listening opportunities and helps their confidence and vocabulary too. Each class’s Chris has a red PE bag, labelled with the class name and inside, as well as Chris, is a diary where children can record their adventures. This could be in the form of mark making; writing; photographs or drawings. Chris is a firm favourite of the children and we are excited to see him adventuring with them.
Albus is awarded to a class for showing our Golden Rules. In our Key Stage 1 Assembly each week, a class is selected, based on good behaviour, to keep Albus in their class for the week.
Our Year Leaders choose a focus, for example, exemplary lining up after snack time, and award to a class who are being role models to others, after all, our vision for all of our children in that they are role models for the world.
Children love to work alongside Albus and he has the most fun learning in different classrooms each week.
A note for mums and dads - you can purchase your child a Chris or an Albus from a well-know blue and yellow furniture store here in Bahrain! Chris and Albus are very well-known and loved members of our Infant School.
