Arabic Curriculum
Early Years
Our Early Years Arabic sessions are engaging and interactive with lots of songs and stories, introducing the children to simple vocabulary, including numbers, colours, body parts, clothes, food, etc. The children remain in their play-based environments, attending sessions every day in class groups. Learning another language at a young age has many benefits for children and promotes healthy development of their listening, observation, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Key Stage 1 & 2
Arabic Language Programme - Years 1 - 6
In accordance with the Ministry of Education guidance, we provide an Arabic Language Programme for eligible children from Years 1 - 6. Eligibility for this programme is dependent on your child’s nationality, as indicated on their CPR. To access the Arabic Language Programme, your child needs to be registered with a CPR from an Arabic first language country, as described by the Ministry. The content of this programme is prescribed by the Ministry of Education and focuses on Arabic reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
Children who demonstrate suitable proficiency but who do not hold a CPR from an Arabic speaking country, or come from a setting where no Arabic is spoken in the home, can be assessed for a place on the Arabic Language Programme providing there are spaces available.
Please note that children in Years 1 and 2 are not grouped into classes based on their ability. In the Infant School, children learn together in mixed-ability classes, allowing them to develop at their own pace within a supportive and inclusive environment. Ability-based grouping is only introduced when children move into Year 3, once they are ready for this next stage of their learning journey.
Please note that government equivalency procedures in most parts of the Arab region mandate foundation learning of Arabic language as part of formal education for national Arab pupils. If your child is a dual national with one nationality being Arab and you anticipate that they may be registered in education on their Arab nationality in future, we advise that you select the Arabic Language Programme to avoid any complications related to the ratification of their education.
Arabic Enrichment Programme - Years 1 - 6
Children who are not enrolled on the Arabic Language Programme will learn Arabic as part of the Arabic Enrichment Programme, regardless of their CPR nationality. During Enrichment time, in addition to learning Arabic they will also consolidate their learning in other areas of the curriculum such as Art, Music and Sports.
Citizenship Programme - Years 2 - 6
From Year 2, all children enrolled on the Arabic Language Programme with an Arab CPR will be enrolled on our Citizenship Programme; these children will go on to participate in the written Arabic Citizenship exams in Years 5 and 6. Non Arab CPR Holders who are enrolled on the Arabic Language Programme through the assessment route, will have the option to enrol on the Citizenship Programme. Children on the Arabic Enrichment programme, will not participate in the Citizenship programme.
Islam - Years 1-6

For children on the Arabic Language Programme, these lessons will be in Arabic.
For those on the Arabic Enrichment Programme, these lessons will be in English.
Please note that these sessions are mandatory for all our Muslim students.
