Our wonderful children experience a nurturing and stimulating environment, where our school mission of ‘Education for a Shared Humanity’ is central to our provision.
Items of our School uniform can be purchased from Cafe 61, Zaks Store Bahrain, Nakheel Centre (opposite the Saar Campus) or the Kukri website (please see the Infant and Junior Handbook for further information).
For safety reasons, the wearing of jewellery is not permitted. Children that have their ears pierced may wear small metal stud earrings; multiple earrings are not permitted. Rings, bracelets and friendship bands are not to be worn. Nail varnish (including toe nails) and transfers (tattoos) are not permitted.
All children should have conventional hairstyles: long hair must be tied back from the face and must be neat and tidy. Excessive use of wax or gel and ‘tramlines’ are not permitted. Any artificial change in hair colour should have a natural appearance. Hair ornaments should be functional and discreet.
Please remember to send your children into School, each day, with a freshly filled water bottle, their sun hat (labelled with their name/initials) and ensure that sun cream has been applied before they arrive at School for the day.
For more information, please refer to our Uniform Policy.
Our shop stocks a selection of pre-loved uniforms for children from Nursery - Year 6.
All uniforms are priced at 1BD per piece and hoodies at 5BD per piece, with 100% of proceeds going to one of the school’s designated charities.
Please ask for the key at the Main Reception during school working hours in order to visit the shop.
If you have any pre-loved uniform donations that no longer fit your own children, please leave these at the school Main Reception; all uniforms should be washed and in reasonable condition.
In order to access the Saar campus all parents, Nannies and Drivers will need to hold a valid pass and ensure it is clearly visible to the guards and staff at all times.
Please click on the following link to apply: School Pass Application Form.
If you forget to bring your pass, please go to the Security hut at Gate A, where we can provide you with a temporary one on receipt of a photo ID; you will not be permitted entry to the campus without your security pass (or alternative photo ID) in order to keep our children and community safe.
You will notice that the roads and parking spaces around the school are extremely busy at drop off and pick up. Please leave plenty of time to arrive at school, and please be respectful and courteous to other road users to ensure our children and our community are safe at all times.
May we ask for your cooperation, and that of your driver, in ensuring that you are not parking or temporarily stopping in the road as this causes a heightened risk to our children. Please park safely and ensure that you are not blocking the crossing where our children walk into school.
Our guards do a fantastic job of keeping everyone safe and keeping the traffic moving - please ensure you are polite and co-operative with any requests they make. We appreciate your support on this and that of your driver.
We ask that all children arrive at school on time, as late arrival can mean missing valuable learning and can cause disruption to the whole class Our Gates open at 07:20 and our Infant School day starts at 07:45; entrance into classrooms is from that point. You may drop your child off up until 08:00, however learning does begin at 07:45. Our Gates close at 08:00; children arriving after this time will need to enter via Gate A to sign in at Main Reception and will be marked as a late arrival.
Our Gates open at 14:15 for you to come and collect your child(ren). All Infant children can be collected from their classroom pod gate, at pick-up time. Children who have not been collected promptly will be taken to the Main Reception and marked as a late collection.
If someone else is picking your child up from school, please ensure you have notified your class teacher that morning. If we are not aware that someone else has been given permission to take your child home, we will not release them from school.
There are multiple gates providing access to the school. The main school gate (Gate A) is open all day and manned by security staff. This is the only gate for dropping off children who are old enough to walk into school independently.
The other gates, Gates B and C, are only open at the beginning and end of the school day. These gates are for parking and walking in with your child. As they are situated on public roads, drop-off at these gates is prohibited for safety reasons.
Please see this link to our Saar Campus map, to help you navigate your way around: Infant Map.
Please ensure your child is well enough for school in order to protect them and their peers. We kindly ask that if your child has a temperature of 37.3℃ with symptoms or a temperature above 37.5℃, please can you keep them at home to rest until they are fully recovered to minimise the transfer of any illnesses. If your child has had vomiting or diarrhoea, please also keep them at home for 24 hours before returning to school.
We kindly request that you inform your child’s Class Teacher via email if they are going to be absent for any reason. Please also include our School Receptionist, in this communication or call them directly.
Unfortunately we cannot allow any edible treats to be given out on a child’s birthday as we are a healthy school, and some of our children have serious allergies. However parents can, if they wish, give out a small gift to children in their child’s class as the children exit the pod at home time. Any such gift must be given out by the parent, at the end of the School day; I’m afraid the staff in class will be unable to do this.
In regards to giving out party invitations, if there is an invite for every child in the class then staff would be happy to distribute one to every child; it is not possible to give invites out unless there is one for every child, as this puts staff in a difficult position. Thank you for your understanding on this and please be assured that we always make a big fuss of them and ensure they have a wonderful birthday!
We encourage healthy eating and talk to the children about the need to eat fruit and vegetables. Whole fruits such as grapes or small tomatoes must be cut length-ways to prevent choking.
Water is freely available throughout the site and children are encouraged to bring water bottles to school. We also want to encourage children to minimise waste in their snack box in order to reduce the consumption of plastic.
Our school is a nut-free zone. Please do not send nuts or nut-based products to school as we have children with severe allergies.
All students visit the library for a timetabled 30 minutes session each week where there is time to share a story and then select a book to take home; don't forget to send your child to school with their red St Chris book bag.
Our library is open in the mornings, from 07:20 for parents and carers to enjoy reading a book with their child, before the day begins; please note that Library books cannot be taken from the library outside of the timetabled library lessons.
Also in our Infant library, we have English and Arabic ‘Magic Carpet’ sessions at 07:30 each week where a special guest comes to read one of their favourite stories.
One of the key factors in academic success is reading. Each child, from Reception onwards, is issued with their own reading journal to monitor and record their progress. Each week, you should write in this journal with a comment about your child’s reading; please remember to do this as Teachers are unable to send new books home if the old ones haven’t been read.
Together, we can work together to ensure regular practice leads to exceptional progress in reading, which in turn will support your child in excelling academically. We recommend reading with your child 5 times per week, for 15 minutes each time. Building this into your daily routine, for example at bedtime, ensures reading is done frequently and becomes a fun, family activity for all to enjoy.
Please take good care of this journal as it is there to track your child’s progress throughout the year, and there is also a charge of 2BD for each replacement journal.
The iSAMS Parent Web Portal is fully compatible with mobile devices. Attendance and punctuality data, reports, letters, financial information, forms, class timetables and calendars can all be accessed here.
You can add the Parent Web Portal to your mobile Home Screen, just like a native app. Simply log in with your existing iSAMS credentials to enjoy a more seamless and mobile-friendly experience. For more details on how to do this, please see this link: Parent Portal Introduction.
Please ensure that you have SchoolsBuddy downloaded onto your device. It is vital that you have this, as all our written communication comes to you via this app. You will also be able to book your SPARTA and ECA sessions here.
Our teachers and teaching assistants will share photos etc each week of your child’s learning with you via ‘Google Classroom’. All other communication will go through SchoolsBuddy, but should you need to contact your child’s class teacher, please do this via email.
Please can we remind all parents to ensure their child(ren) are up to date with all their immunisations and that this information is shared with the School Nurses. All Nursery and Reception children are due their final DTP / polio immunisations at 4-5 years old.
It is a Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health requirement to be fully up to date with immunisations in order to attend school. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our School Nurses.
Each of our Year Groups take part in theme days throughout the academic year, which represents a particular topic of study, for example Year 2 will have Pirate Day which coincides with the study of ‘Ocean Commotion’; Year 1 will have Traditional Dress Day which coincides with the study of ‘My World’. We also have whole School theme days, which will represent a specific cause, such as Think Pink Day, Just One Tree Day, Global Citizens Day, World Book Day and Bahrain Day.
To supplement the learning, we also provide a wide range of local trips and visits in the Infant School including Nature Play for Nursery; Learn to Grow for Reception; Bahrain Fort for Year 1 and Budaiya Beach for Year 2. If the opportunity arises, we have also been known to take a trip to the Theatre, to enjoy a festive themed show at the end of Term 1!
Our PTO is dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of the St Christopher's community, fostering a strong and supportive culture and school spirit. It exists to support the educational goals directed by the School's leadership and to organise social and fundraising events which strengthen and support the school.
There are many ways you can get involved; either in a leadership role; as a PTO Committee member or as a casual volunteer on a project basis. We appreciate that many parents work full-time and we are keen that all parents have the opportunity to get involved in some capacity - big or small; your commitment of time is completely determined by your own availability.
At St Christopher’s, we welcome the support of Parent Volunteers in the classroom, as well as helping with theme days, activities and events in a variety of different ways within the school.
As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to engage in training sessions to broaden your skills, knowledge and understanding of how we teach. It will also provide you with the skills required to better support your children’s learning at home.
At St Christopher’s School, we prioritise the fundamental right of children to be protected from harm. Our staff ensures a safe learning environment, and all adults understand their responsibilities in the school setting.
All parents are expected to fully comply with our parental code of conduct and safeguarding procedures, and to fully support and cooperate with any matters raised by the school in relation to safeguarding and child protection.
With a clear safeguarding policy, anyone working with our children must be up to date with Safeguarding Training. For those who wish to volunteer in the school, Safeguarding training will be provided. It is also our policy to ensure that all volunteers renew the Safeguarding training every two years.
In this ever-growing world of technology and devices, we are always keen to ensure that parents are conscious of their child's online safety.
Throughout the year, we host workshops for parents to ensure that they know ways in which to keep their children safe online.
Please see our Digital Leadership Framework Online Safety Site here: Digital Safety.
Please see this presentation for further information on Infant specific safety guidance: The Parents Guide to Internet Safety.
Children are placed into new classes at various points during their Primary years to support their social development and adaptability. In the Infant School, we usually mix classes annually in Nursery, Reception, and Year 1. Year 2 classes generally remain the same to ensure a smooth and secure transition into the Junior School. In the Junior School, class mixing is not scheduled at fixed times and is thoughtfully reviewed each year.
As part of our learning mission, we aim to equip children with the confidence to embrace change, form new connections, and develop inclusive, resilient attitudes. In an international school setting, where families often relocate, friendships can naturally shift. By mixing classes, we create opportunities for children and their families to form new friendships and engage with others from diverse backgrounds. This experience is particularly important in our setting, where embracing cultural diversity and adapting to change are part of daily life.
We believe that the ability to make new friends and interact confidently with a range of people is an essential life skill and by creating these opportunities for our children from an early age helps ensure that our students grow into self-assured individuals, equipped to thrive in an ever-changing world. These skills are fundamental to becoming compassionate global citizens and true ‘Role Models for the World’.
