The school has deeply committed highly qualified staff with wide-ranging experience of teaching in the British style of education. Schools, of course, also rely on their well-being and effectiveness on support staff.
St Christopher’s has dedicated groups of people working directly with teachers, such as classroom assistants, technicians and librarians and in all wider areas of the School’s operation; admissions, finance, human resources, maintenance, secretarial, reprographics, security and so on.
St Christopher’s operates under the direction of its Principal, Dr Simon Watson. Reporting to the Principal are three Headteachers – each of whom takes care of one of the three constituent parts of St Christopher’s – Infants, Juniors and Seniors. Together they form the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
Our Infant School is operated under the direction of Mrs Nat Dickinson, supported by Mrs Ellie Dawson and Mr Dave Holgate.

Each year group has their own dedicated year leader who oversees the daily operation and the termly and yearly curriculum.
Our Learning Support (LS) Department aims to make a sizeable contribution to the lives of children who face challenges along their learning path. It is a combination of rigour and empathy which drives the teaching and learning. We recognise that children who attend LS contribute a great deal in many ways to the diversity of our school community and we are proud when we are able to see them flourish.
Students are provided with the opportunity to develop transferable skills and strategies to take into other learning contexts. Pupils are aware of their own targets and are encouraged to take risks alongside a supportive adult.
Arabic is one of the oldest existing and most widely spoken languages in the world and is ranked among the top six of the world's major languages.
At St Christopher’s School, we are proud of our Arabic language programme for both native and non-native speakers as it gives all pupils an opportunity to communicate in our host nation’s language.
We follow the Bahraini Government Curriculum from the Ministry of Education which focuses on reading, writing, speaking and listening. The curriculum is enhanced through units of work linked to learning about Bahrain and Arabic Heritage and Culture.
St Christopher’s School has long recognised the contribution of PE and competitive sport to the health and well-being of its pupils. We also acknowledge that a broad, balanced, high-quality curriculum and extra-curricular activities have a positive impact on concentration, attitude and achievement.
Our dedicated PE specialist teachers are committed to providing top-quality sports coaching for all our pupils and hold coaching qualifications in a variety of sports.
Our Infant children benefit from the use of a 6 lane 25m indoor pool with attached shallow training pool. Reception to Year 2 curriculum swim lessons last for 30 minutes and take place every week throughout the school year. In the summer term our Nursery aged children have a splash day at the pool to familiarise themselves with the pool surroundings and to meet the swim coaches before attending regular swimming lessons.
The primary swimming curriculum follows the ASA Learn to Swim Framework which uses fun games to take children from their first splash to full competence in the water through 10 stages.
SPARTA is the Sports and Arts Academy Programme at St Christopher's School. Our Academy is a thriving hub for sporting development, with over 1000 dedicated students across Bahrain taking part each week.
Our diverse range of sports fosters potential in young athletes, nurturing a love for their chosen sporting activities and giving them the drive to excel.
Our classes utilise the exceptional facilities of St Christopher’s School including a state-of-the-art, artificial grass football pitch, Bahrain’s only fully shaded tennis courts, beach volleyball court, full gymnastics set up and a heated / chilled indoor pool – perfect for learning to swim or refining technique. The pool, home to the St Chris Sharks, is the ideal setting for those learning to swim or looking to improve their technique and has space for parents to sit in comfort and watch their child progress.
These facilities enable us to further develop our coaching provision and ensure sessions can run all year round. SPARTA activities are also open to all members of the Bahrain community, with coaching offered to all age groups.
The Music Curriculum inspires our students to develop young creative minds and give them support and encouragement to aid their musical development. Pupils participate in a range of musical activities, which include singing, composing, listening and performing. Musicianship skills are taught through songs and games and are central to our music programme.
Our pupils explore playing a range of instruments, with opportunities for them to join music taster clubs, choirs and orchestras and take part in our music performances which are legendary.
In addition to this, Instrumental and Vocal tuition is available for pupils of St Christopher’s and lessons are taught weekly on a one to one basis. Instrumental lessons in Saar are scheduled for 30 minutes and operate on a weekly rotation to minimise disruption to academic learning.
St Christopher’s is justifiably proud of its purpose-built library which is situated in the very heart of the campus in Saar. The library, built to an individual design is a large, open-plan space on two levels. The provision in the library is outstanding with over 40,000 books plus a constantly growing Arabic library book section.
Reading both for pleasure and academic study is a fundamental strand of the library’s work and our aim is to nurture a whole school reading community. The library is noted for its colourful and exciting display work, often reflecting classroom initiatives.
Our library is open in the mornings, from 07:20, for parents and carers to enjoy reading with their child. Why not pop along to our ‘Magic Carpet’ on a Thursday, to hear a special guest read one of their favourite stories in English or Arabic.
St Christopher's Nurses are here to make sure all staff, children and visitors are always taken care of.
Café 61 is developing into a truly bespoke community project. This St Chris experience has been crafted in the grounds of our Saar campus for parents, staff and students to enjoy.
Home-made, healthy snacks and drinks are created to reflect school life, and our healthy eating policies, with menus featuring locally sourced produce.
Our lovely school cannot operate without our administrative staff working so diligently in the background.
Our School is silently supported by many departments, including Human Resources, Accounts and Purchasing, Marketing, the Principal's Office and our Reception Team.
St Christopher’s School has been offering the very best British-style Education since 1961, for children aged between 3-18 (Nursery to Year 13).
St Christopher’s mission is to provide an Education for a Shared Humanity and encourage our students to become effective Role Models of the World.
Take a moment to meet the pets of our Infant School; Chris the Cat and Albus the Dog - both are very much loved by all our children.
Our Site Staff team, consisting of our Security Guards, maintenance, caretakers, cleaners, etc, all help to ensure that St Christopher's continues to run.
