"Using AI to support thinking, not replace it."
These guiding principles reflect how we, as a learning community, choose to use AI responsibly to support meaningful teaching and learning.
We use AI to support learning, not replace thinking.
We use AI to help us explore ideas, practise skills, and reflect on our understanding. We don’t rely on it to do the thinking for us, because real learning comes from our own effort and engagement.
We recognise that teachers lead learning.
AI can support the learning process, but teachers guide, model, and make decisions that shape how we learn. We value the knowledge, judgement, and relationships that teachers bring to every lesson.
We use AI as a tool, not a shortcut.
We only use AI when it's appropriate and helpful. We make sure we understand the content it supports and can explain our thinking. We know that learning takes time, practice, and active effort.
We are open and honest about how we use AI.
We are clear about when and how AI is used, whether that’s in planning, lessons, homework, or feedback. We do not hide or misrepresent the role AI has played in our work.
We use only safe and approved AI tools.
We choose tools that are secure, age-appropriate, and in line with our school’s values. We avoid AI platforms that put privacy at risk or offer content that could mislead or confuse.
We protect personal information when using AI.
We never enter names, personal details, or sensitive information into AI platforms unless they’ve been approved. We follow the school’s data protection guidance to keep ourselves and others safe.
We use AI when it adds real value to learning.
We use AI to support feedback, planning when it clearly helps improve teaching and learning. We stay focused on using AI purposefully and with clear educational intent.
We keep a healthy balance with AI.
We use AI thoughtfully and in moderation. We don’t let it take over creative tasks or thinking time. We understand that overuse can reduce independent thinking and personal growth.
We all share responsibility for using AI well.
We act with integrity when using AI. We follow school expectations, avoid misuse, and help build a learning environment where AI supports everyone’s progress.
