Denton Fire Department

Description of job shadowing: 

The student will see preparations made at the beginning of each shift to ensure we are ready for any call whether it is a fire, a car wreck, a heart attack, or person with a severe injury unconscious in a tree (happened recently!). The student will tour the fire station and see how we live for 24 hours at a time (soon to be 48-hour shifts) with four to 10 other personnel and love it. We will go over each apparatus (fire engine, ambulance, etc.) at the station to see equipment carried on each and their uses.

The student will also have the opportunity to go on any calls received during their time at the station WITH A SIGNED PERMISSION SLIP from a Parent or Legal Guardian. Without the form, they can remain at the fire station until we return or leave early depending on when the call is received.

Company dress code: Comfortable pants, closed-toed shoes or boots (no slippers or flip flops), warm enough clothing to be outdoors if needed.
