Year 1
As our friends read the story ‘In our hands’, they became very concerned about where the colour had gone?
A group of us decided to help our friends find the colour. We used the sensory sensation of painting with our hands and feet to create a beautiful rainbow tree. 1Y have told Mrs Cook this must go on display as they loved it so much.
We also learnt how to wash our hands and feet trying to do this by ourselves.
Year 1 have been building number lines recognising the position of the numbers. They have also shown representations for each number demonstrating excellent number sense. We have also been looking at numbers 'greater than' and 'less than' and 'equal to
As we become more confident with using the class laptops year 1 are also understanding the importance of online safety.
We discussed how much we like playing games because of the colours, jingles and fun characters.
But we also now know how that can be unsafe as we spend so long on a game, we forget to interact with our parents and friends. It can hurt our eyes and make us very tired. We enjoyed having a timer and playing until that finished. Then we understood why it was important to stop!
Some of the children in year 1 have been working on attention and listening skills in Bucket Group as well as getting exercise in the Soft Play Room.
Year 2
Year 2 used a computing software to design their own car logos as part of their Design and Technology unit ‘Vehicles and Wheels’.
Children have enjoyed their Forest School sessions. They had the opportunity to explore. Children made a worm hospital using mud and made a road using crates.
Year 2 used the moral of our focus week book ‘In Our Hands’ to work together to create our own trees. We didn’t need the help of the teachers! We can make change by ourselves, we just need each other.
In Religion we have been learning about the sacrament of Baptism. To fully understand the sacrament we worked in groups and performed our own sacrament. We each had a role to play such as the Priest, parents and Godparents. We understood what the water, oil and candle are symbols for. We also were lucky enough to see an actual garment used for a baptism.
