Year 1
The citizenship focus is Equality.
Year 1 had an amazing day working with our friends at St Joachim’s where we all learnt about the strand of disability from the equality act.
Together we learnt British Sign Language, tackled obstacle courses without sight, did some problem solving tasks without speaking to each other and made new friends.
Our science unit for this half term is to identify materials. We have started to learn different types of materials by using our own environment.
Year 1 now know the primary colours as we have learnt about them in our art lessons.
We all used the primary colours to make secondary colours such as green, orange and purple.
We enjoyed watching the primary colours change. Some of us used paint brushes, some used cups to mix but the children that used their hands had the most fun.
We can count to 10 and we can count to 29 but we spent time during our maths lessons to understand what those numbers are. We now know that 11 is 10 and 1. We know 15 is 10 and 5 and we know 20 is 2 tens.
Year 2
In science this term we are looking at changing shapes of materials. We investigated what objects were bendy, stretchy, squashable and twistable.
