Sculptures - Year 1 learnt about an artist called Sokari Douglas.  She created amazing sculptures.  We took inspiration from her to create our own sculptures.  Our sculptures are creatures to help defeat the bad mythical creature in our story writing. 

Magic Wands -  Year 1 enjoyed making magic wands and wrote about what those wands could do. This allowed us to create potions and be creative in our writing. 

Sealife Centre - Year 1 went to the sea life centre on Tuesday 27th June 2023. We had a great time to exploring the aquarium and the beach.

Computing - In Year 2’s  computing unit, we have been learning how to send and receive emails. Children had a go at composing their own emails as well as replying to emails. Some even added pictures and emojis to their email. 

Music  - In music lessons Year 2 have been exploring composition. Year 2 had the opportunity to make their own music in groups using instruments of their choice and creating their own sequence. 

PSHCE - In Year 2’s PSHCE lessons, they have been learning about first aid and what to do in an emergency. Children have learnt what to say if they call 999 and how to keep calm. Children have also practiced on eachother how to put someone in the recovery position. 

Science -  In science, Year 2 have been learning about living things. Year 2 explored which food bird preferred. They made small cups of bird food which was corn, lentils, mealworms and peanuts. 

We placed the food in various locations behind our classrooms and observed which food the birds preferred to eat.
