Preschool
Fathers' Day BBQ - You’ve heard of the story ‘The Tiger who came to Tea’, well at Preschool, our Fathers came to tea. Our annual Fathers' day Tea party. The special highlight was going swimming again.
Gardening - It's that time of year when we start to tidy up, so we offered to weed the garden for Miss Burch. Look at the fun we had. Who would have thought we’d find potatoes and snails? Do these two items constitute a meal?
Colour Mixing - Colour mixing is such fun. Miss Burch said we also used scientific thinking to watch the teachers, predict what might happen and compare the result. Lots of great questions asked and answered. ‘What will happen if we mix all three primary colours together?’ ‘How much yellow do you need to add to make green?’ ‘Can I make the exact same colour twice? We also used lots of fun words like ‘tickly’ ‘shivery’ ‘wet and sticky’ ‘slimey’. Pure magic!
The Naughty Bus - by Jan and Jerry Oke
A young boy receives a toy bus as a present and has great fun exploring the world with his new toy which turns out to be quite a naughty bus – or is it the boy being naughty?!!
This is a very unusual picture book with a story told through close up photography and mainly narrated by the toy bus.We went on to have an adventure of our own as well as make naughty bus biscuits. Yum!
Learning to use a knife & fork - Over the past week, we have been having snacks that require us to use a knife and fork. We are getting ready for the next stage of our learning journey, maybe having school dinners or going out for a meal over the summer. It's been hard work at times, but we persevered and are so proud of ourselves.
Nursery
Forest School Fun
Our little adventurers have been busy turning over logs, picking through leaves, and digging into the soil in search of some wiggly, squiggly friends! Yes, we've been on a worm safari, exploring the vast wilderness of our Forest School. It's been a world of wonder as our explorers have discovered the fascinating life beneath our feet. Ask your child about their new worm buddies, and you're sure to hear a fantastic tale or two!
Masterpiece Memories
We've been painting a rainbow of friendships! Every child has had the chance to paint a portrait of a friend they've made this year. From swirling hairdos to star-spangled dresses, every piece has been a beautiful testament to the bond formed between our little ones.
Snack time Superstars
In the spirit of teamwork and camaraderie, our little chefs have been wearing their aprons and chef hats, helping prepare nutritious and delicious snacks for their friends. It's been a delightful fusion of learning and cooking, with a generous sprinkle of fun. The aroma of fresh fruits and crunchy veggies has filled our class, as our kiddos discovered the joy of sharing and the thrill of creating something yummy together!
Making Patterns in Maths
Who said maths can't be a roller coaster of fun? Our little mathematicians have been working diligently to recognise, create, and extend patterns, improving their early numeracy skills while having a blast.
We celebrated the end of our time in Nursery with our very own Graduation Ceremony.
Reception
Reception Classes have been busy marking a lot of first key events of a St.Helen’s child; Sports Day, International Evening and Arts Week to name a few. We are looking forward to many more throughout our school life. We have enjoyed our year in Reception and learnt a lot! Our last focus text this year was ‘The Gruffalo’, and we rounded it off by making some delicious, ‘Owl Ice Cream’.
