In-person On-campus Learning
NO change in the way attendance is taken. If a student is present they will be counted present. If a student is absent they will be counted absent. Students may also be counted late/tardy or may be checked-out early by a parent/guardian.
Asynchronous Learning
Students will only earn attendance through daily engagement measures. There are 3 types of of daily engagement measures and as long as a student meets ONE of the THREE criteria for the day for each course, they will be marked “asynchronous present” for courses they successfully engaged in. If a student does not meet at least ONE of the daily engagement measures, the student will be marked as “absent” for whichever course they didn't engage in.
What are the daily engagement measures at SST?
The three types of measures are:
Student may meet with their teacher for a daily progress teacher-student interaction
Student may receive assignments and must turn in those assignments on assigned days
Student may progress in the Learning Management System (Ex: Logging into Schoology and completing some work)
Please note, if your child completes all their work on a weekend and does not engage in one of the three measures listed above each school day, they will be marked as absent. We understand that some students would prefer to work a head or wait until the weekend but we must have daily engagement in order to mark a child as present.
Mr. Williams is the distance learning teacher for your student. Mr. Williams has assigned your student to meet with him on Monday, August 31st for a teacher-student interaction. Your student logs into the computer and meets virtually with Mr. Williams. Your student is counted as “present” for Mr. Williams’ class.
Mrs. Johnson is the distance learning teacher for your student. Mrs. Johnson has assigned her students an assignment that is due on Monday, September 7th. The student does not complete the assignment for Mrs. Johnson on Monday, September 7th. The student did not log into Schoology before 11:59pm on that day and did not meet with the teacher via zoom, phone call or parent square. Since Mrs. Johnson did not receive the assigned assignment, did not have any form of communication with the student and did not log into the course in Schoology, your student is counted “absent” for Mrs. Johnson’s class.
