Abstract of talk
Many of the most inspiring and fascinating topics in science are the grand questions that drive our understanding of the world. But these are grand questions for a reason - they are difficult. Instead, we break down these questions into small parts and apply the scientific method step by step (sometimes consulting other people along the way). Along the way, things may not work out, but in science, you really only fail when you fail to learn something new.
