Opportunities on the Early Learning section of this site focus on improving outcomes for young children, including those with diverse needs. Our professional development provides support in Inclusive Instruction (including special education rules), Early Literacy, School Climate, and Teaching & Learning using the framework of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). These learning opportunities are to build the capacity of those who work with children birth to 3rd grade.

Professional Learning on the Inclusive Instruction section of this site is designed to support ALL educators in providing inclusive learning practices and improving the performance of students with disabilities.

Current and past research around the process of learning to read which includes developmental psychology, cognitive neuropsychology, developmental linguistics, and educational intervention come together in what is called the Science of Reading. State Support Team Region 6 aligns all literacy professional development to Ohio's Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement, which encompasses the continuum for all learners in emergent, early, conventional, and adolescent literacy. The literacy section will provide more information on upcoming professional learning opportunities.

This section of the site will provide professional learning opportunities that focus on ways to promote a positive school climate utilizing Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Positive school climate has been linked to several important outcomes including increased student self-esteem and self-concept, decreased absenteeism, risk prevention, reduced behavioral problems, and school completion (Cohen, McCabe, Michelli, & Pickeral, 2009; Lindstrom Johnson, Pas, & Bradshaw, 2015).

The Teaching and Learning section encompasses professional learning opportunities in Leadership, Continuous Improvement, One Needs Assessment, the One Plan, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), College and Career Readiness, and Family and Community Engagement.
