According to the National Reading Panel, in order for students to become successful in reading they must develop in the following areas:
--Phonemic awareness
--Phonics skills
--The ability to read words in text in an accurate and fluent manner
--The ability to apply comprehension strategies consciously and deliberately as they read
In the Springfield School District, our goal is for children to become life-long learners as well as function independently in their learning. We give them the tools to succeed and expect them to learn from themselves, each other, and the environment around them. As a school we will continue to help our students grow and become passionate about literacy and learning.
