Tech Crew Time Commitments will vary by crew. Please read the descriptions below to see when your crew will be required to attend rehearsals and performances.
Crew Descriptions:
**Actors: You may be a part of the cast and ALSO be a part of the following crews at the same time--set crew, costume crew, publicity crew, and extras may also be part of grip crew. Please indicate on your Tech Audition Form that you are a part of the cast.
**Stage Manager (1 person): This person needs to be at all rehearsals and performances and needs to know the show backwards and forwards. This person should have some theater experience and be comfortable working closely with the directors. The SM should be extremely organized and will need to keep a prompt book of the whole show.
Assistant Stage Managers (2 people): You will assist the SM and the Directors. These crew members need to be dedicated, organized, and helpful. This is a great way to learn about the play production process and gain experience to become a stage manager. Two ASM’s are needed: 1 to keep track of attendance and be the runner, and 1 to be the prompter. TIME COMMITMENT: People on this crew must be available to come to ALL rehearsals and performances.
Set Crew (anyone): No experience necessary. You may help paint and build scenery at our Friday and Saturday work days. TIME COMMITMENT: Set crew doesn’t need to attend rehearsals. You may be on this crew and another crew at the same time.
Grip Crew (4 people): Some experience with theater is helpful. This crew is responsible for moving all the scenery for scene changes. TIME COMMITMENT: People on this crew must be available to come to ALL rehearsals and performances starting on September 9th.
House Crew (2-4 people): No experience necessary. This crew will distribute programs to the guests, welcome them, and help them find their seats. TIME COMMITMENT: This crew should attend the performance nights only. Ms. Warner will train you the night of the performance when you arrive early. This crew doesn’t need to attend rehearsals. You may be on this crew and another crew at the same time.
Props Crew (2 people): Some experience would be helpful, or simply students who are dedicated and organized. This crew needs to maintain the props table, making sure things are in the right place at the right time, not broken or missing, and where the actors can find them. TIME COMMITMENT: You would need to ALL rehearsals and performances starting on October 14th.
Sound Crew (2 people): Some experience is helpful. If no experience, I can train you during rehearsals. This crew needs 2 people: 1 to run the computer sound cues, 1 to run the sound board. TIME COMMITMENT: You would both need to be at ALL rehearsals and performances and have minimal to no scheduling conflicts.
Lighting Crew (3 people): Some experience is helpful. If no experience, I can train you during rehearsals. This crew needs 3 people: 1 person to run the spotlight, 1 person to run the light board, 1 person to stay on script and call out cues. TIME COMMITMENT: You would both need to be at ALL rehearsals and performances starting on October 14th, and have minimal to no scheduling conflicts.
Makeup Crew (2-4 people): Some experience is helpful. Need to learn the stage makeup plan for the show. TIME COMMITMENT: Makeup crew needs to attend rehearsals starting on October 28th and stay for all performances. This crew is responsible for set-up/clean-up of the makeup stations for ALL the nights of the show/tech/dress rehearsals.
Costume Crew (2-3 people): Some experience is helpful. Need to be organized and good at hanging, storing, repairing clothes (with duct tape, needle and thread, or safety pins). All costumes need to be organized at the beginning and end of each show and dress rehearsal. TIME COMMITMENT: Should start attending all rehearsals and performances starting on October 28th. Will most likely need to meet with Ms. Warner prior to October, as well.
Publicity Crew (anyone): No experience necessary. Should be artistic. This crew will help make and hang posters and promotional items to advertise for the musical. TIME COMMITMENT: This crew’s jobs will mostly be done in Stagecraft class. You may ask Ms. Warner about helping with this if you want to help with posters prior to the performance dates. You may be on this crew and another crew at the same time.
