Behavior Expectations and Policies

All Cast and Crew

Basics

• Be on time and ready to work
• Dress to move: no open-toed shoes or bare feet onstage
• Notify the director in writing of any rehearsal conflicts three days before (illness excepted), or as soon as possible
• Phones are off and away
• No food/ drinks in choir room or back stage
• No gum
• Rehearsals are “closed”; friends and family members are not allowed to come.
• It is the student’s responsibility to check the rehearsal calendar and know when to come to rehearsals
• Treat cast and crew with respect

Behavior

• No talking over directors
• If not being used onstage at the moment, sit quietly at tables; no “hanging out” backstage
• Come promptly to stage when called
• No horseplay or rough- housing
• No put downs or insensitive behavior (eye rolls, attitude) directed toward cast, crew, or directing team

*Students may be asked to leave rehearsal if behaving in a distracting, disrespectful or unsafe manner. Parents will be contacted, and students will be asked to write the cast, crew and and/or directing team a letter of apology before returning to rehearsals. Multiple occurrences may result in roles being understudied, cut, or even recast.

Rehearsal Absences- Policies

· Known conflicts listed on audition forms will be automatically excused.

· Frequent conflicts with rehearsal time may impact casting decisions.

· All Dress Rehearsals and Performances are mandatory- no conflicts will be accepted.

· All other conflicts received in writing three days prior to the rehearsal absence will be excused.

· Absences from school due to illness are automatically excused. It is still helpful to email the directors and let them know.

· Unexcused absences are where students miss rehearsal, yet are NOT ill and notification has NOT been given 3 days in advance.

· After one unexcused absence, parents will be contacted.

· After two unexcused absences, a letter will be sent home for parents to sign and students will write an apology letter to their cast before returning to rehearsals.

· After three or more unexcused rehearsal absences, roles may be understudied, cut or recast and performances could be entirely taken away.
