Greetings Vista Grande Community!
My name is Erin Buick and I am so thrilled to be the counselor at Vista Grande this year! I look forward to partnering with you, teachers and staff in supporting your child this year. I consider it an honor and privilege to walk alongside your children and support them as they grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
With a background in strength-based, student-centered counseling and many years of experience supporting children, I bring both a compassionate heart and a practical, research-based approach to my work. Whether it’s through classroom lessons, small group activities, or one-on-one check-ins, my goal is to help students develop confidence, resilience, and positive relationships and empower students with the foundational tools they need to thrive, in and out of the classroom.
Throughout my career, I’ve seen how essential strong relationships are to student success. I approach this role with deep empathy and am committed to building trust with every student I work with; creating a welcoming, safe space where all children feel seen, heard, and valued. Please know that my door is always open to students, parents, and caregivers. Whether your child is having a tough day, adjusting to a new environment, or just wants to say hello, I’m here for them. I also encourage you to reach out if you have questions, concerns, or just want to connect. We’re a team, and I deeply value the trust you place in me. The best way to reach me is by email: ebuick@srvusd.net
*Please help us contribute to Erin's wishlist
Thank you for the opportunity to support your wonderful children. I look forward to a joyful, safe, and successful year together!
Warmly,
Erin Buick, M.S., PPSC

District Information
San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes the month of September as National Literacy Month. The schools of SRVUSD stand firmly committed to promoting reading as the catalyst for our students’ future academic, professional, and personal success. We are committed to providing the highest quality evidence-based instructional materials, screening and diagnostic tools, interventions, and supports so that every student becomes a proficient and engaged reader, writer, speaker, and listener.
SRVUSD encourages engagement with parents and caregivers so they can support literacy at home and enhance opportunities for exploration, fun, and in support of academic achievement.
San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes the month of September as Citizenship Awareness Month. It is important that our students understand the basic principles of democracy and what it means to be an American citizen. Young people can play a critical role in our democracy by helping to choose the people who will lead us and by voicing their opinions on the issues that are important to them.
Students are encouraged to participate in the democratic process through voter education programs and involvement in civic engagement activities. District schools are encouraged to celebrate Constitution Day on September 17 and participate in California High School Voter Education Weeks during the last two weeks of September.
San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes September 15 - October 15 as National Hispanic Heritage Month. Hispanic and Latino Americans have made so many social, artistic, linguistic, and intellectual contributions to our society, the State of California, and our community. Their influence and rich history enrich our nation and our schools through their entrepreneurship, commitment to community service, deep value of justice and liberty and social and cultural life. As stated in the Multicultural Education Policy of the California State Board of Education, each student needs an opportunity to understand the common humanity underlying all people.
TK and Kindergarten enrollment opens November 1st for the 2026-27 school year.
Children who turn 4 (TK) or 5 (Kinder) by September 1, 2026, are eligible to attend.
A virtual information session will be held on Tuesday, October 7 at 6:00 pm to learn more.
The link to join the presentation can be found on the TK/Kinder page of the District website.
September is Attendance Awareness Month
Come by our school’s main office and see all the things our students are looking forward to this school year!
Did you know?
When they are preoccupied with worries, it is much harder for students to learn.
A student who is experiencing stress is much more likely to get sick.
Students experiencing ongoing health or mental health difficulties are more likely to miss more school days than their peers.
Frequent absences may indicate that a student is struggling with social interactions, is uncomfortable asking for help, or feels overwhelmed by some aspect of being at school.
Parents and caregivers are essential partners in promoting good attendance!
Here are some strategies that can help:
Consult with your child’s doctor if your child is experiencing emotional, behavioral, or physical symptoms that are interfering with their daily routine, including attending school.
If your child seems anxious about going to school, please talk with our teachers, school counselors, or other members of our school team so we can collaborate with you to find ways to offer support!
If your child has a health issue that may affect their ability to attend school every day, please let us know so our school team and school nurse can work together with you to make a plan to support your child.
We’re here for you! If you have any questions or concerns about your student’s attendance, please contact our school office.
If you would like to volunteer this year please sign up or log in to check the status of your previous sign-up so you are ready to volunteer during the 25/26 school year.
In SRVUSD, we continue to prioritize student safety and improve our procedures for processing and clearing volunteers.
