Hello Vista Grande Families,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year. I am absolutely thrilled to welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year at Vista Grande Elementary—where we Falcons Shine Bright with Positivity! It is a true privilege to serve as your principal and be part of such a joyful, collaborative, and supportive community.
We are excited to announce the release of our updated VG Family Handbook! This comprehensive guide is your essential resource for navigating all aspects of Vista Grande school life, including attendance policies, parking lot procedures, playground rules, and much more.
Accessing the handbook is easy! You'll find it in two convenient locations: on a dedicated tab within the Juergens' Journal and as one of the six prominent tiles on our VG Webpage. We encourage you to explore it today!
This year, we are excited to launch a new school-wide program called The Positivity Project, focused on building strong character and positive relationships. Students will explore 24 key character strengths—like kindness, gratitude, and perseverance—through engaging lessons and daily reflections. Join us for a Parent/Caregiver Education Night on Sept. 25 at 6:00 PM in the MPR (with an online option)!
At Vista Grande, we pair high academic expectations with compassionate support to help every student grow with confidence, creativity, and care. Our success is built on strong partnerships between home and school, and we’re so grateful for our amazing families and volunteers who bring such energy and spirit to our community.
As we gear up for a wonderful year, our office reopens on August 4 (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM). Parent-guided playdates are held on August 12, and the first day of school is August 13 (minimum day). Teachers are already preparing classrooms and collaborating on exciting curriculum and events!
Let’s make this year one to remember—full of kindness, curiosity, and connection. Here’s to a bright beginning!
Warmly,
Osi Juergens
Principal, Vista Grande Elementary

We understand families may have preferences for your child's class placement. However, we want to assure you that our staff works diligently and considers many factors when creating balanced classrooms. To ensure the best learning environment for all students, we will not be making changes to class assignments at this time. We appreciate your understanding and support as we prepare for a wonderful school year.
*Please note teacher assignments are not determined by sibling precedent; therefore, we cannot guarantee a younger sibling will be placed with a specific teacher.
Introducing New Staff
TK–5 STEM Teacher
Dear Vista Grande Community,
My name is Megan Johnson, and I’m so excited to introduce myself as the new TK–5 STEM teacher! I began my teaching journey in San Rafael, where I spent 15 wonderful years teaching various grade levels. After that, I had the opportunity to collaborate with educators as a Be GLAD trainer, and most recently, I worked as a paraprofessional at Sycamore Valley Elementary. While I’m new to teaching STEM, I’m thrilled to share the wonder of learning with Vista Grande’s young scientists, engineers, and creators this year.
My family and I moved to Danville in 2018 when our twin girls started crawling and needed more space—having previously lived in San Francisco—and we’ve been loving it ever since. I enjoy spending quality time with my family, playing tennis, and exploring the outdoors on hikes with our Golden Retriever, Nellie. I’m looking forward to a joyful, curiosity-filled year of learning together and to becoming part of the Vista Grande community!
Warmly,
Megan Johnson

The Positivity Project is a school-wide program that teaches children to recognize and develop positive character traits in themselves and others. The program focuses on 24 strengths—such as kindness, bravery, teamwork, and gratitude—through daily lessons and weekly themes. Each week, students focus on a different strength through conversations and classroom activities. The goal is to help children develop character, build healthy relationships, grow in confidence, and understand that how we treat others matters.

Would you like to help us fill our TK and Kindergarten classrooms with toys and games?
Over the summer we have been updating two of our classrooms to be ready for an additional AM TK class and updating one of our previous 1st grade classroom into a Kindergarten Classroom.
We are reaching out now as it may give you a great opportunity to clean out some items before we come back to school.
Things we are in need of: larger legos, magna-tiles, small hard animal toys, baby dolls + accessories, indoor play kitchen + accessories, play shopping cart + accessories, wooden blocks, Duplo blocks, Lincoln logs, small bookshelves, bins, and more.
The goal is for it to be donation-based :) WIN-WIN- you clean out and we get ready for our updated classrooms.
Please fill out this GOOGLE LINK between 7/28-8/4
Please add a photo and description of what you would like to donate. We will look through everything and get back to you if your item will work in our spaces. (We need to prioritize and not get too much of one thing vs. another)
*We will begin collecting items the week of 8/4/25, and our TK or Kindergarten teachers will reach out to you the week of 8/4 if they are interested in utilizing your donated items in their classroom.
*If you have more items to donate than the form allows, please fill out an additional form.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH,
Principal Juergens & VG Teachers

classroom's needs. These donations are extremely helpful throughout the school year.
The deadline was July 1st.
If you did not have a chance to order these supplies yourself please consider purchasing them
