Google Meet is how we will have class when we are not in school. It can also be called our "virtual classroom".
Your Meet schedule will be on your class calendar, along with a shortcut to join the class. Check your calendar every night so you will know when your Meets are the next day.
To access your class calendar from Google Classroom:
Tap the menu button (three horizontal bars at the top left)
Tap "Calendar"
Your teacher may also have "office hours" where you can join a meet just to check in or ask questions. Office hours are for making quick casual connections with your teacher. Office hours will be posted on your teacher's website and in Google Classroom home screen tile for each class.
In Safari or Chrome, navigate to meet.google.com. Or use the Meet app on your iPad.
Tap "Join or Start a Meeting".
Enter your teacher's Meet nickname. Note : The Meet nickname can be found on your teachers website or in Google Classroom on the home screen for each class.
Online communication is a little different than in the classroom. In order to have productive class meetings, it is important to observe some basic virtual meeting etiquette, or "rules of the road".
Arrive on time.
Be prepared and ready to learn. Try to find a quiet space where you can sit up strait.
Have all of your materials ready. You may need paper and pencil or to have certain assignments open on your iPad.
Mute yourself when you are not speaking. To mute yourself, click on the microphone icon on the bottom of the video display.
Pause and listen. Sometimes the video call is a little slower than in person. It is polite to let others completely finish speaking before taking your turn.
