CONTACTING ME:
Email: The best way to contact me is by email. My email address is stacy.ohara@springscs.org. I check my email daily and will always give you a timely reply.
Cell Phone: You may also call my cell phone at (951) 264-6464. Please keep in mind that emails are always better than phone messages for my organization system.
Text messages are acceptable for quick questions too. Please do not text me with PO orders as I cannot keep track of those requests by text. If you do not get a text answer right away, please send your question to my email (it is easier to track). Keep in mind that emails are ALWAYS better than texts for my organization system. Orders must be placed via Google Form found on the Ordering page of my website.
My office hours are Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM.
LEARNING PLAN MEETINGS:
I try to schedule LP (learning plan) meetings in advance on the same day and time each learning period. Meetings cannot be rescheduled unless there is an emergency so please be sure to schedule all other appointments around this very important meeting! Please let me know as soon as possible if you are unable to make a meeting due to an emergency so we can reschedule. Because I have so many meetings, please understand that missed meetings will be rescheduled at a time and place convenient to me and my schedule.
Meetings will last approximately 1 hour. An agenda will be emailed to you prior to the meeting. The agenda will include information on what is due that month as well as important dates and reminders.
At each meeting we will review the previous month's work as well as plan and brainstorm for the coming months. Be sure to have with you the work your student completed the previous Learning Period for me to look over. We should see that all the work planned on your Annual Planner for that Learning Period is completed. We will also discuss student progress and any questions and concerns that you have.
Please be ON TIME and PREPARED for our meeting. This means having attendance completed in OASIS and ready for review and discussion.
I will send a meeting reminder email out the week prior to the scheduled meeting. Please read the email carefully and respond promptly to confirm the meeting. This email will contain a reminder of any specific items you need to bring or tasks to complete before our meeting.
THE BASIC THREE KEY PAPERWORK COMPONENTS FOR SPRINGS CHARTER SCHOOLS:
There are three basic pieces that the state auditors look for with our homeschool program. The idea is that all three pieces should match. The auditors want to see that what was planned at the beginning of the month was completed and documented.
Learning Plan (LP): completed by ES (with help of parent) in OASIS showing ALL work to be completed. I create this using what we planned on our Annual Planner.
Daily Attendance (WPR/Work Progress Report): completed by the PARENT to show the daily work matches the planned work on the Annual Planner and Learning Plan.
Portfolio Samples: completed by the STUDENT to show work matches the work planned in the Annual Planner and Learning Plan.
INADEQUATE PROGRESS:
There are 3 ways to be considered for inadequate progress:
If you miss a meeting and fail to reschedule within 3 school days, inadequate progress will be marked for that period.
If a student has not made adequate progress in their schoolwork, inadequate progress will be marked for that period. Adequate progress means that 100% of the work that is expected each learning period must be complete. Adequate progress also applies to the quality of work, meaning that 100% of the work may be complete but the work completed is of poor quality and does not show progress in learning.
If a student cheats on an assignment in any way, such as copying answers or another student's work, plagiarizing, copying a paper from the internet, having someone else do his/her work, etc....inadequate progress will be marked for that period.
1st Inadequate Progress - you will receive a letter in the mail from student records regarding the inadequate progress
2nd Inadequate Progress - you will be dismissed from Springs Charter Schools
After the 1st Inadequate Progress we will need to meet again within 10 days, instead of the regular 20 days, to evaluate the student's work.
INSTRUCTIONAL FUNDS:
Each year, students receive instructional funds to be used on school-related items. All non-consumable items purchased with Instructional Funds are property of SCS and must be returned when your students are either done using them or when they dis-enroll from the homeschool program. When placing orders for material and classes, please use the information found on the Purchasing Guidelines page. Students are allotted funds as follows:
K-12 $1250/year, a free Chromebook, plus River Springs and Empire Springs students receive a $500 coupon code which can be used on curriculum, online programs, tech tab items, field trips and learning center classes in Bookmart
