PGSGU INTERSCHOOLS SWIMMING GALA
Springfield is hosting this Gala which takes place on Tuesday 3 March 2020 at 15h45. We will compete against Herschel, St Cyprians, Wynberg and Rustenburg and show our fellow schools the true hospitality about which Springfield is famous!
SPORTS TOURS
We have three Sports Tours leaving Cape Town tomorrow! Our U15 Water-polo girls are making an early start (crack of dawn) and driving to Knysna to participate in the Oakhill Knysna Water-front Water-polo Festival, which is unique in that the matches are actually played in the sea!!
The First Team Water-polo players will attend the St Peters Water-polo Tournament in Johannesburg. First Team Tennis players will be attending the St Marys ISTT Tennis Festival in Pretoria. Wishing all our touring girls an amazing experience - go out there and give it your all, wear the Springfield badge with pride and possess the excellent sportswomanship for which you are all so well know.
LIFE - SAVING
Over the weekend, 15 Springfield girls competed at the Western Province lifesaving championships in Milnerton. The conditions were tough and the day was long but all the girls showed so much strength and really gave it their all!! Special mention to:

INDOOR HOCKEY
Last week commenced our 5th week of indoor hockey fixtures versus Pinelands. A positive week of Indoor was had with a great performance by all and some really good results.

ROWING
This past Saturdays UCT regatta was hosted at home by the UCT rowing club. All races were 1km . A lot of the races consisted of our own girls racing each other , girls racing boys and even racing against the masters. It was a good fun competitive atmosphere along with outstanding results :

WATER-POLO
Last weekend Springfield had a bye and did not play any matches. This however, did not stop the girls from practicing with great spirit and determination. We wish the first team and u16A’s good luck on their upcoming tournament and congratulate them on their hard work that has been put into all the practices leading up to the tournament. Congratulations also goes to Bella Mazzullo for making non travelling reserve for the SA u17 team, and we continue to wish Lennie Barnard good luck in her remaining trials at Currie Cup.
TENNIS
Another successful week of tennis it has been! All the girls are excelling in their tennis and the top 7 have been working hard for their tour at the end of this week. It has been an incredible start to the year and I know that the girls will continue to push right until the end of the season. Good luck to the girls for the week to come.
DIVING 2020
Last Saturday the first diving competition of 2020 against Wynberg was held. A huge congratulations to all the divers who competed. It was a great turnout and a shoutout to the grade 8s for their first diving competition. It was great to see all the effort the girls have been putting in is paying off. Springfield did extremely well with Jayde Jagga coming 1st and Jemima Hindmarch coming 4th in the senior section. In the junior section Springfield girls did us proud with Olivia Gomes coming in 1st, Anna Savage coming in 2nd and Anna Meager coming in 3rd. Thank you to Ms Van Zyl and Ms Hoole for their guidance, help and encouragement. I am so proud of how far all the girls have come!

NON SCHOOL SPORT
Mountain Biking: Charlotte Wolfson who competed in another Downhill MTB race. In SA Championships, she was 2nd in Junior Elite Women category In SA National Cup Series, she was 2nd in Junior Elite Women category In WP Cup Series, she was 1st in Junior Elite Women category
Karate: Congratulations to Francesca Quercia, Danella Quercia and Chloë Krohnert on receiving gold for their Unison Kata on Saturday at the Kimura Shukokai Karate regionals. Chloë also received a gold medal for both kata and Kumite in the 14 to 15 age group. Danella and Francesca competed in the 16 to 17 age group. Danella won Silver for both Kata and Kumite. Francesca won gold for kata and bronze for Kumite .
