All the girls have already been divided into vertical ‘connect’ groups of about 16 girls from all grades, who meet regularly during the week to discuss matters of school, national and life importance. There are nine Connect Groups in a House with every House having their own House Head.
The senior school staff joined some of the junior school staff, admin staff and ground staff on a Cultural Connect Experience on Monday 13 January.
We visited the Zeitz MOCAA and spent some time looking at the William Kentridge exhibition and discussing his work. Of particular interest was his art work entitled "Hold the Open Heart". We have received his permission to use this as our slogan for the year ahead - encouraging all in our community to be open to new people, new experiences, new ideas...
Next we were taken by bus to the BoKaap where we first did a walking tour with a guide from the area before being taught how to make samoosas in the homes of some of the local women.
Not only was the day bursting with cultural experiences and discussions,
but it also provided the space for us to connect and deepen relationships and for that, we were all grateful.
