Matric Results
We were very proud to announce last week the results that our 2019 Grade 12s achieved. For those who missed the news, Springfield achieved a 100% Bachelor Pass.
There were 301 subject distinctions, an average of 3.72 per pupil, which placed Springfield fourth in the country according to distinctions per pupil calculated by Gradesmatch and reported by Business Tech. Four pupils achieved eight distinctions, 11 girls achieved seven distinctions and six girls achieved six distinctions. 34 of the girls achieved an aggregate of over 80% and 36 over 70%. That means 70 out of our 80 matrics achieved more than 70% for their aggregate!
Jess Holing was the top pupil, with Lara Featherstone and Jade Acton rounding out the top three. The rest of the top ten pupils comprised Lauren Herbert, Angel Kabila, Alexa Msakiwe, Rebecca Powell, Kylie Venter, Emma Vergunst and Torey Wiget-Beattie. We are also very proud of the pupils who improved the most between the mock exams and the finals, namely Britney Brown, Kira Dean, Helen Forbes, Sacha-Leigh Hoedemaker, Cait McCann, Alyssa Mehl, Juliet Morris, Isabella Rangasamy, Nicole Seggie and Melissa Tait. Jess Holing and Jade Acton have been invited to the NSC Awards tomorrow, where we will wait to hear more about their achievements.
These results are a testament to the work put in by all of these pupils as well as their teachers from their first days of schooling through to their final day of Grade 12. Congratulations to everyone.
Class of 2019
Congratulations!
Note from the Head of Academics
A hearty welcome back to everyone at Springfield. As a staff, we are looking forward to working together with the parents and pupils in our school community towards a balanced education that sparks curiosity both in and beyond the classroom. I am so privileged to be working with an academic staff who is so dedicated to building relationships with each of their pupils, no matter whether they appear in their classes for the first time this year or whether they have had classes together for a year or two. Here’s to a great “20-plenty!”

Life Orientation Island Days
One of the major changes to our timetable this year is the replacement of Life Orientation in the daily timetable with Island Days each term. Each grade will have one day per term in which they explore aspects of the Life Orientation curriculum. The first of these days is for Grade 12 and will take place on 21 January, next Tuesday. Further details will be provided directly to the Grade 12s during the week.
