Head Girl report - Luhlanganiso Majebe
I’d like to give a warm welcome to our Springfield family - from staff to pupils to parents and newcomers! I trust that we all had a well deserved break and had an enjoyable Hanukkah, Christmas and New Years.
As I start the journey to the end of high school, I can’t help but reflect on the early days of grade 8. Being stunned by the gardens, finally having my own locker and of course, the honour of coming to Springfield all flood my memory when I look at this year’s grade 8’s. To the parents, I can safely say that our school encourages character growth and this doesn’t just come from the teachers. The girls take it upon themselves to educate each other about their lived experiences and belief systems - so don’t be surprised if your child’s identity isn’t set in stone. It’s all apart of the process.
To the pupils, I personally cannot wait to share the initiatives that the matrics have cooked up for this year. The 2020 Matrics have often been characterised as the ‘radical grade’ and we definitely intend to live up to that name. One thing I really admire about my grade is the multidimensionalism that we possess. We are all passionate about different things that we aren’t afraid to share and create a platform for it. And that’s exactly what we intend to do! After all, we do have ‘2020 vision.’
