Head Girl Report
Term four has been quite a term. The new leadership for 2020 has already started laying the foundations for the new year. From a successful Amasiko Food Fair to the Care Portfolio organising a fun filled event between the new matrics and new grade eights. It’s safe to say this group of leaders has 2020 vision.
This past weekend, The Springboks brought the Webb Ellis Rugby World Cup back home to South Africa. The moment when Siya Kolisi lifted the golden cup was definitely a historical moment as he became the first black African Springbok Captain to lead South Africa to the final and win! This moment made me reflect on the moment when Springfield announced their first black head girl, Natalie Muchenje, and how it became an inspiration for me. Seeing people of colour in leadership positions, whether it be on a micro or macro level, will always be awe-inspiring to me. These changes are reflective of our transforming South African society and as leadership 2020, we hope to continue that. We are moving into a new decade where new inventions will be created and new troubles will arise. But most importantly where new leaders and thinkers will be there to guide and create a platform for solutions. That is leadership 2020. We strive to create a platform of inclusivity, celebrating diversity and being able to cultivate a new culture for Springfield. Gone are the days of conforming to a status quo. We, as Springfield, are creating a new status quo. For us, by us.
I could not be any more honoured to be part of this journey. Goodluck to all the pupils for their upcoming exams and thank you to the teachers for all the things they do for us. Big and small. As we always say: Floreat Springfield!
