How to submit BY APRIL 10th
Students in grades K-12 are invited to respond artistically to this quote with creative submissions: artwork, an essay, a poem, a photographic presentation, a poster, or a video.
Spanish entries are welcome.
Please complete and attach a label with the student's full name, school, teacher’s name and grade. (Labels will be sent to each school.)
Selected submissions will be displayed at the Young Artists Gallery Outside Springfield Public Library
The first 200 Participants will be awarded a high quality book.
Group projects will be recognized collectively
with a classroom book set.
Where? Deliver entries to Hamlin Middle School, 326 Centennial Blvd, Springfield (or send by SPS District Mail, Attn: Huerta /Chavez Celebration) by 5pm on April 10th
WHOLE CLASS PROJECTS - Please be sure to include a class list with the names of all participating students.

Como entregar los proyectos antes del 10 de abril
Se invita a los estudiantes de los grados K-12 a responder artísticamente a esta cita con presentaciones creativas: obras de arte, un ensayo, un poema, una presentación fotográfica, un póster o un video.
Los proyectos en español son bienvenidos.
Complete y adjunte una etiqueta con el nombre completo del estudiante, la escuela, el nombre del maestro y el grado. (Las etiquetas se enviarán a cada escuela)
Las presentaciones seleccionadas se exhibirán en la Galería de Artistas Jóvenes, fuera de la biblioteca pública de Springfield
Los primeros 200 participantes recibirán un libro de alta calidad.
Los proyectos grupales serán reconocidos colectivamente con un juego de libros para el aula.
¿Donde? Los proyectos deben entregarse en la secundaria Hamlin Middle School, 326 Centennial Blvd, Springfield (o por el correo del distrito escolar, a la atención de: Huerta /Chavez Celebration) antes de las 5pm del 10 de Abril
PROYECTOS EN GRUPO: asegúrese de incluir una lista de clase con el nombre de todos los participantes.

Guiding questions for Huerta/Chavez Art and Essay Activity 2025
Individual:
Recall a time when you needed help for a problem big or small.
From whom did you seek assistance: family, friends, teachers, etc.?
How and to whom do you offer help- through caring, sympathy, kindness or expertise?
Community:
Who are the helpers in your community /school? (coach, counselor etc.)
Who is a role model of a “helper” to you? Describe their qualities. (generosity, selflessness, patience, kindness, solution-oriented, non-judgmental)
Historical context:
Who were Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez working to help?
What improvements were needed in the farmworker’s conditions?
How did Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez uplift the farmworkers?
Even though they were strong leaders, they still needed help from others to accomplish their goals: Who were the allies who worked with them to accomplish their goals? How did they support Huerta/Chavez?
How can you support those who are working for human rights, to improve the community and better the world?
