2022 SAfER Human Rights Leadership Award Premio de liderazgo en derechos humanos
Rosalba Rodriguez,
Rosalba Rodrguez shows leadership by taking risks, speaking up in unfamiliar settings and across language barriers. She makes sure families know their rights, and supports them in advocating for their kids in the schools. Rosalba felt silenced most of her life but has found her voice and has been helping others find theirs. She was a founder of Escudo Latino, a grassroots organization that now provides info to the Latinx community. Rosalba has spoken at school board meetings to advocate for translation and resources in the language that families can read and understand. Rosalba has been involved at the Arc of Lane County CARES food pantry and has volunteered at many SAfER events. She does her best to show immigrant families that their voice matters.
Rosalba Rodríguez muestra liderazgo al tomar riesgos, hablar en entornos desconocidos y a través de las barreras del idioma. Ella se asegura de que las familias conozcan sus derechos y las apoya para que defiendan a sus hijos en las escuelas. Rosalba se sintió silenciada la mayor parte de su vida, pero ha encontrado su voz y ha estado ayudando a otros a encontrar la suya. Springfield Public Library
The Springfield Public Library is exemplary in initiating activities that support the Latinx community, while educating and enriching the larger population of Springfield. Among these events are: Dia de los Muertos, Dia de los Ninos/Libros, bilingual story time, and presentations by bilingual authors. Library staff have worked as active partners with the Huerta/Chavez Celebration, generously contributing both human and financial resources. They have designed posters, distributed take-home packets, selected and ordered bilingual books, and publicized the Celebration. Library staff, particularly Mindy Linder, Community Engagement & Outreach Specialist, and Kristen Cure, Latino Liaison for the library, are knowledgeable and sincerely dedicated to promoting cultural diversity and inclusion.
La Biblioteca Pública de Springfield es ejemplar en el inicio de actividades que apoyan a la comunidad Latinx, mientras educan y enriquecen a toda la población de Springfield. Algunos de estos eventos son: Día de los Muertos, Día de los Niños/Libros, hora de cuentos bilingüe y presentaciones de autores bilingües. El personal de la biblioteca ha trabajado como socios activos con Huerta/Chávez Celebration, contribuyendo generosamente con recursos humanos y financieros. David Braley
David is a hard-working, caring and honest student. He volunteers in the school Family Center a few times a week. He is always willing to step up and do any job that needs to be done. He is a great asset to the Family Center. David is also kind and is always watching out for the needs of others. He puts their needs before his own. I have seen many times when another student is in need of help and he steps right in to help out. It doesn't matter the situation if David sees something that is unfair he steps in and helps to right the situation. Maple is very lucky to have such a sweet and caring student.
David es un estudiante honesto, cariñoso y trabajador. Es voluntario en el Centro Familiar de la escuela varias veces a la semana. Siempre está dispuesto a dar un paso al frente y hacer cualquier trabajo que sea necesario. Él es un gran recurso para el Centro Familiar. David también es amable y siempre está pendiente de las necesidades de los demás. Él pone sus necesidades antes que las suyas. He visto muchas veces cuando otro estudiante necesita ayuda y él interviene para ayudar. No importa la situación, si David ve algo que es injusto, interviene y ayuda a corregir la situación. Maple tiene mucha suerte de tener una estudiante tan dulce y cariñosa.

Sol has gone above and beyond during the pandemic to help our staff stay safe and happy. She not only is a caring wonderful mother she helps keep the spirits up at our school. She makes beautiful homemade masks and delivers them to the school. They are so well made that everyone wants them. So many beautiful designs. She also brings in delicious drinks for the staff to try. We are very lucky to have such a wonderful kind and caring parent here at Maple School.
Sol ha ido más allá durante la pandemia para ayudar a nuestro personal a mantenerse seguro y feliz. Ella no solo es una madre cariñosa y maravillosa, sino que también ayuda a mantener el ánimo en nuestra escuela. Ella hace hermosas máscaras caseras y las entrega a la escuela. Están tan bien hechos que todo el mundo los quiere. Tantos diseños hermosos. Ella también trae deliciosas bebidas para que el personal las pruebe. Somos muy afortunados de tener una madre tan amable y cariñoso aquí en la Escuela Maple.
