Tournament Rules
Teams will receive 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss.
There will be one, 5 minute overtime period for games tied after regulation
Tie breaker will be as follows:
1. If two teams are tied, the team that won the Head to Head matchup is the winner (if game was a tie, go to number two)
2. Total goals against for all games
3. If teams are still tied, the lowest number of total penalties against for all games
4. One time coin toss
5. Team with the most points by the end of the tournament wins gold, second most points silver, etc…
*Note: All forfeits count as a loss and the winning team will record a winning score of 5-0.
**If a team that has a forfeit in their record is tied with another team(s), the team with the forfeit will automatically lose the tiebreaker.
Each Team is allowed 1 timeout per game
Floorball
Starting 2024 Special Olympics Massachusetts will be transitioning to the sport of Floorball. Reasons for change
Sport is more accessible and simpler to implement
Equipment more resembles the sport of hockey and
Less equipment is required in order to play
Equipment is more readily available to purchase and outfit teams
Current version of sport is has no governing body and is being phased out by Special Olympics across the world. Sport is no longer supported or offered on international stage and Chapters across US are now changing over to Floorball do to reasons above
