Individual Sports
(Classifications and Advancement Policy)
Individual Sports will have a variety of offerings depending on its classification level. Class A level sports will have the opportunity to compete in a regional event and from there athletes will qualify based on award received in their event for the State Tournament. All level B & C sports sports will be offered as stand alone or local competitions.

Win gold medal in your race or division
The remaining slots will then go to silver medals winners or all teams will be entered into a random draw in accordance with Article One of Special Olympics official sports rules
Team Sports
(Leagues and Advancement Policy)
Leagues have been established in the majority of the team sports offered by Special Olympics Massachusetts to give athletes more competition opportunities throughout the season and to replicate the sports experience of their peers in their community. Teams will play in their assigned league based on location and anticipated ability level. For team sports that do not offer leagues Special Olympics MA will assign teams to locations and create a schedule for the season
Advancement Policy for all team sports
Play all scheduled games
Teams that cancel a scheduled game or no show will not be eligible to advance to the state tournament. They may finish the season schedule and will receive a participation award
Where a league with playoff is offered, Win a gold medal within an assigned division
