About us

Spearfish High School counselors are certified, professional educational specialist through the state of South Dakota who assist students, teachers, parents, and administrators. They provide assistance to students through five primary interventions: individual counseling, large group guidance, consultation, collaboration, and coordination. The Spearfish High School Counseling Team utilizes the American School Counselor Associations (ASCA) National Standards for School Counseling as a framework and guideline for delivering and implementing targeted counseling interventions. These standards focus on the developmental needs of all students and look at the student as a complete individual in three major areas: academic development, career development, and personal/social development.
